Noah on KG: Not my favorite player anymore 05.02.09 at 7:15 pm ET
By

There was a time when Kevin Garnett was Joakim Noah’s favorite NBA player.

Those days are long gone.

“I don’t care about him at all. I don’t care about him at all,” Noah said before Game 7. “He used to be my favorite player. Not my favorite player any more.”

There was a time when Noah admired Garnett’s passion. He has been witnessing it in the Celtics-Bulls first round match up, as an injured Garnett has been emotional on the sidelines.

“He’s talking the whole time,” Noah said. “You can tell that he’s really passionate about his team, especially when things are going well.”

But he stopped looking up to Garnett when he got to the NBA in 2007. It wasn’t just because they were wearing different uniforms, either. Even though Noah cannot deny Garnett’s talent, that’s where the compliment ends.

“He’s a great player,” he said. “Now that I hear stories, I see how he is, not a big fan. “

Thats great Noah, go cry in your pillow now.

And Kevin would care about this WHY??

  • NineSevenEight

This comes from a guy who is as equally hated by opposing fans around the league and openly admits that he loves when people hate on him because he feeds off of it. Not to mention his screams of bloody murder after every basket and his cries to the officials after every call. Who would have thought that all it would take to get under his skin was some bench trash talk from KG. Weak. He would have been invisible in this series had KG played. Instead of talking about an injured HOFer, he should really be kissing KG’s knee because it saved him from being owned in the playoffs on national television. Is his opinion of KG supposed to mean something to anyone? It can’t mean much coming from a guy whose own teammates voted to bench him last season for missing practices and failing to fulfill obligations to his team.

Sweet revenge for Paul who fouled Noah out. Game on, Orlando!

Kevin is a punk sitting on the bench talking shit all game and sticking out his chin like he just won the game! Kevin is soft; he is a PF who thinks he’s a shooting guard. Most of his points come from jump shots around the foul line extension, when do you see Kevin dunk over Amare, Duncan, or any other great PF/C???? NEVER he only drives into the paint and dunks when he has a wide open play or on fast breaks then pounds his chest acting like god’s gift to man, He never gets called for over the back, and gets away with more stuff than any other player in the league. Too bad the Celtics won’t make it past the second round, because I would love to watch them fall apart against a superior team like the Cavs.

Noah has no place knocking Garnetts’ on court talent. Until hes’ accomplished half of what Garnett has.As far as their actions, they both have a long way to go!!! Garnetts’ filthy mouth is something the league should clean up.Surely, he realizes, that the cameras follow players! As for Noah, his maturity level is clearly in question. I’m dissapointed that such a good hoops program such as Florida produced such a PUNK! Coach Donovan needs to work harder!!!!

Noah, was a good player and did some good things in this series. What NBA player doesnt curse, or mouth off to each other? D-Wade, SHaq, Amare, Kobe all of them do it. Trash talking is apart of the sports world. LEt your game speak for itself. Now for Noah to come back say something like that, I bet Garnett will have something for Noah…… OHHHH, thats right the BUlls are eliminated and in Chicago and the C’s heading into the 2nd round. GOtta wait next year Noah.

  • logginz

If Garnett had been on the floor playing we wouldnt have heard but a squeek from Noah. I would love to see Noah bump chests with Garnett and Noah to wet his drawers.

How is this a surprise to anyone. Noah isnt the first guy to say something like this. The qualities that make Garnett a great player also make him a less than great person. When players get to the NBA they realise that his on court demenor doesnt just stay on the court. As fans we appreciate the intensity and brashness that Garnett plays with but we dont consider what it would be like to be around someone like that when they arent playing ball. Just think what would it be like if your boss was Kevin Garnett i’ll bet you change your mind about him real quick.

Kevin Garnett is a completely classless individual. He made a fool of himself and the Celtics organization with his behaviour in the playoffs last year – all culminating in the final game. He was taken out of the game but instead of staying on or near the bench, he was all over the court before the game was over yelling, screaming and taunting the opposition like a complete idiot. The guy has obviously never heard of sportsmanship, has no class and clearly doesn’t understand what it is to be a professional. His constant verbal abuse of refs and bulls players during this series was embarrassing and I feel sorry for a good coach like Doc who has to constantly defend this douche.

Kevin Garnett has a ring, and every teammate he’s ever had loves him. Case closed.

hey Matt…you’re a clown, when KG is hurt and isn’t on the bench, everyone complains, when he is on the bench…you complain. His Passion is undeniable and yea,it may get the best of him at times but this is sports. This is what goes on in sports, did you see the Bulls’ bench on those 3s by House or any bench for that matter,it’s all a part of the game.As far as KG being soft…yea…you must be a HOFer or ex-MVP of the league to call ‘em that…here’s KG dunkin on Amare on 2/22/08

where Amare not only gets dunk on but pushes KG and gets a tech after.Don’t like that one…want another great PF/C…how about one of the rawest in the game right now…Dwight Howard on 12/23/07.

Now,I’m not too caught up in our own hype to believe that without KG the Celts can take it all the way this year, but I do know that KG is one of the greats and when our team is healthy, we are the best team in the league i.e. the win streak in the beginning of the season.

    Matt,
Go visit a Bulls site. I’m sure they’re pretty active today.

  • John Hoban

Every teammate Garnett has had does not love him. Ask Wally Szerbiak….ask Rick Rickert…

Living in Minnesota, I’ve heard many stories of what an a-hole, sometimes even a racist a-hole, this guy is in everyday life. Admire him all you want, though. It doesn’t change the fact that he’s a skinny punk who keeps yapping his mouth and would back away from any fight against a player his own size. And here’s more highlights to add to the collection above….

-Dumbass, he’s Defensive Player of the year. Who cares about his scoring. He is the reason we won #17. Tard!

The truth of the matter is this, KG came to the worst team in the leauage and in one offseason did 3 things to make them the hands down best. 1. He brought an intensity to this team that no one outside of his teamates in the past could EVER understand 2. He got an entire “team” to play defence. Yea, that includes Ray Ray. And last, but probably most importaint he came in and made everyone accountable. I’m not about to go into detail about all the other so-called stars in the leauge that have moved and in the last couple of years and haven’t done half that. If I had the power I’d fine Noha 25 G’s for making a jackass out himself, and cutting deeply into a moment when the Bulls deserved a pat on the back.
