| Report: Celtics offered Allen, Rondo to Pistons | 06.23.09 at 12:51 am ET |
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports has reported the Boston Celtics offered Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo to the Detroit Pistons in a package deal that included Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Rodney Stuckey. According to Wojnarowski, the deal was proposed by a lower-level Celtics executive last weekend and was rejected by the Pistons before the conversations escalated to a discussion between general managers Danny Ainge and Joe Dumars.
“This isn’t an uncommon occurrence for a GM like Ainge to dispatch an underling to make that kind of a call, if for no other reason to give the top executive some level of deniability that he’s shopping his stars,” Wojnarowski wrote.
Both Allen and Rondo have been mentioned in nearly every Celtics trade rumor this offseason, largely because of their contracts. Allen is entering the final season of his deal while the Cs have to decide whether or not to extend Rondo’s contract by this October. Rondo recently told WEEI he does not expect to be traded this summer.

dear jessica, camerato.let me get this straight the celtics were offering ray allen and rajon rondo to the pistons for tayshaun prince rip hamilton and rodney stuckey but a source from yahoo sports also reported that the deal was shot down because joe dumars and danny ainge never had any disscussions about that deal what the hell is danny ainge thinking he should have just pulled the trigger on this deal that would have gave the celtics a formidable starting five of paul pierce kevin garnett rip hamilton rodney stuckey and kendrick perkins? i hope ainge trades ray allen and rajon rondo to another team. what do you think jessica camerato.

What a disaster that would have been. Rondo is one of the best. Those guys from Detroit are all on the down side of there career.

Christopher, first of all I don’t know how you would begin to even pretend to know that villar is a mommas boy much less that you would think that insult is remotely even applicable to the situation. that would have been a disastorous trade. Stuckey isn’t even half the play rondo is, Rip has been hurt most of the past two seasons and has been in decline since billups left as has prince. They can’t play without a great point guard because neither creates their own shot and stuckey cleary isn’t working for them in detroit so it stands to reason that he wouldn’t work here. How about YOU start following sports “like a real man” and then maybe you would realize that its never a good idea to trade two of your core players for 3 of the starting five for one of the worst teams in the NBA. PS Jessica Camerato aint answerin bro
