Report: Daniels commits to Celtics 07.17.09 at 8:22 pm ET
By

The Boston Herald has reported small forward Marquis Daniels has committed to the Boston Celtics. According to the Herald, Daniels will either sign a $1.9 million biannual exception or be dealt to the Celtics in a sign-and-trade with the Indiana Pacers.

Daniels averaged a career-high 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 54 games last season.

After Grant Hill re-signed with the Phoenix Suns, several sources indicated the Celtics were still pursuing a back up for Paul Pierce. The Celtics captain averaged nearly 38 minutes per game last season.

good pickup. much better defender than grant hill. this is a steal for the celtics. now trade scal, and resign baby AND powe(i love leon, the guy is a player, period.)

dear, jessica camerato i like this pickup by the celtics of getting marquis daniels he’s a good defender he can play all three outside perimeter shots also quite athletic and he’s very young and will definately help the celtics in a way of giving paul pierce and ray allen the much needed break during season games and in the playoffs on top of boston signing rasheed wallace to me this definately makes boston a favorite to win it again in 2010. what do you think.

Why is ths signing taking so long? I know that both tema are trying to work a S&T, but it’s been almost a week now. Call me crazy, but I have no desire to get rid of Scal. I think his intelleigence, ability to spread the floor, and fouls will be much needed this season. If Baby comes back at the right price, great, but I;m not holding my breath for an undersized PF, who can’t rebound or play above the rim.

Chris S. I totally agree with your comments. I think Grant Hill would be an okay addition but not a great back up to Pierce due to his ineffective defense and injuries.
