Report: Celtics to sign Williams 08.03.09 at 2:45 pm ET

According to multiple reports, the Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with free agent forward Shelden Williams. The Boston Herald reported it is a guaranteed one-year deal with worth $1.3 million. Williams was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the fifth pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He has averaged 4.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game during his career.

    Shelden Williams? What a stiff. The Celtics would do better to sign his wife (Candace Parker).

    They say this has no effect on the BBD negotiation, but I don’t buy it. If nothing else, it makes him a little more expendable. George, I agree he has played like a stiff(quite literally), but he’s an extra big, who should fill some of the void left be Leon. Maybe Cliff Ray can help him with some post-moves…this guy was pretty damn goood in college. Best case scenario; he’s the new Leon. Worst case scenario; hes this years edition of Patrick O’Bryant.
