| Rondo deadline extended to Monday | 10.29.09 at 9:23 pm ET |
ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that the NBA has extended the deadline to sign players from the 2006 draft class to a contract extension to Monday, meaning the Celtics have until then to re-sign Rajon Rondo. Per Stein, the NBA moved the deadline to be in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Thebo Sefolosaha was the fourth player from the class to sign an extension, joining Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Andrea Bargnani. Rondo is by far the best player from that class who hasn’t worked out an extension.

Rondo better take the money right now. The Celtics are doing him a favor by their offer. Off the top of my head I can name point guards way better than him: Derron Williams, Gilbert Arenas, Jameer Nelson, Tony Parker, Derek Rose, and Devin Harris to name a few. The only reason Rondo has put up any numbers at all is because he plays with the big three! Most NBA teams are so close in talent each team looks position by position for an advantage. Rondo can’t shoot, that’s why his man can leave and double team a good player. Against most teams in the NBA the Celtics have an advantage in every position but point guard. Hey, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen made BJ Armstrong and Steve Kerr look like good players just like the big three make Rajon look good. Take the money now Rondo and quit basketball when the big three leave because you aren’t that good!
