LOS ANGELES — Say this much, you can’t pin this loss on officiating.

The problem was – with the Celtics on Tuesday night – they said all the right things after the game but did precious few of them during an 89-67 loss to the Lakers in Game 6 of the 2010 NBA finals at Staples Center.

“We got our ass kicked, point-blank, simple. They came out there and hit us hard. They beat us mentally, physically,” Glen Davis said.

Getting outrebounded, 30-13, in the first half of a game you could have won the NBA title with is never a good sign. Yes, they lost Kendrick Perkins to a sprained right knee midway through the first quarter to a terrible bad bit of luck. But even before that, there were signs that the Lakers were beat the Celtics at their own game – energy.

“They did a great job,” Davis said. “They were the better team today. We didn’t come out and establish the tempo and we didn’t come out there hit them back. We didn’t do that at all. We didn’t play Celtics basketball.”

So can Davis and company change it for Thursday?

“I don’t know,” he admitted. “I have no idea. But we better find something, make it happen.”

Pierce – as you would expect from a captain – was far more confident.

“I’ll tell you one thing, when I’m standing here on Thursday night, we won’t be talking about [lack of] energy,” Pierce said.

Still, it’s fairly mind-boggling that the Celtics had such trouble mustering up enough energy to compete with the Lakers, who were facing elimination for the first time in this playoff season.

“We have no choice,” Garnett said. “We come out [in Game 7] with the energy we had tonight, we’ll get blown out, embarrassed.”

There’s not doubt that the Celtics didn’t perform especially on the offensive side of the ball.

BUUUUTTTT. The calls went 2-1 for the Lakers. Big Shocker there.

The most glaring was the non-calls which benefited the Lakers. It was obvious that the refs were determined not to call any violations against the Lakers in the first half.

Specifically, I’m not about the NUMEROUS ILLEGAL Ds committed by the Lakers in the first half.

Maybe if they had call Bynum for an illegal D two plays before the one on which he injured Perkins it could have been avoided. There was also numerous 3 sec not called on LA. Even Breen mentioned that Artest travelled in the lane clearly he did. And then Gundy even admits that KG was fouled in the 3rd but no call even though they called the exact same fl for Kobe on the previous procession.

DOC should definitely send it the tape to the league showing the numerous illegal Ds, 3 sec and other non-calls by the refs on LA in the game.

Refs, what a joke. Dispite the neglect on the part of the unbias announcers which fail to even mention the difference in the way the fouls are called it is ridiculous. Example any Celtic drives the lane they tie him up grap him hold his arms and no foul. Kobe on the other hand clearly lowers his shoulder seeks the contact and gets to the free throw line every time. The ref that got caught fixing games clearly stated that he was not the only one, and then without a murmur he said nothing more. Funny how that works, the media did not push him, probably restricted by David Stern. I am convinced along with many of my friends that this is fixed, and I can even tell you how it ends. The refs keep it close but one sided fouls against the Celtics will give a huge advantage to LA at the end of the day, LA will win because Kobe has never beaten the Celtics for a championship neither has Jackson and they need that to fill out there resume.
