WEEI.com has confirmed Ray Allen will return to the Celtics after agreeing to a two-year deal worth $10 million annually, with a player option for the second year. ESPN.com’s Marc Stein first reported the deal on Twitter.
Allen, who turns 35 this month, averaged just over 16 points last season and in the playoffs. He garnered attention from around the league when he hit the free agent market this summer, and was reportedly contacted by LeBron James about playing for a “Dream Team” with him, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.
Allen had attested during the NBA finals, however, that he would like to return to the Celtics. His agreement keeps the Big Three intact for another shot at a title after Paul Pierce agreed to a new four-year deal last week.

It is great to have our core players returning. We were one quarter shy of the championship this year and these recent resignings should keep the window open. Ray is a rare, quality player and at 35 still has game.

Love it. A young player or two for bench and maybe a center and Celts should be strong again.

Love the signing, not sure I like the 10mil. a year though, but it’s nice to know the big 3 will be back along with Doc. I think we’ve got another solid run.

ive got just the names for you guys digest this
Rudy Fernandez,a 6’6” 180lbs Shooting Guard not exactly the finished product fell out of love with basketball and his defense is pretty suspect but is a good 3 point shooter and foul shooter good guy to come off the bench and he averaged 8 points and 2 rebounds i think and makes 1 million or 2 million over the next 4 years he would fall back in love with basketball becuase he would be on a team that is winning and would learn form the master that is ray how to play the 2 throw what you can at portland marqius and scals deals works out at four million in cap space what ever you can form our garbage player(you know who i am talking about) and go and get the lad
nate needs to be resigned him and avery will have to be the back-up point guard and
David lee i still tihnk thats an avenue to be explored danny need to preach to him about signing for cheap this season and if he continues to get better then he will take the reins from kg and be a max deal player on a winning team its every players dream would be cool to see him and glen vie for back-up 4
and then a center danny seems to fink that shaq might mess around with the team chemistry and if so thats to big of a risk i don’t really like jermaine o’neali like haywood alot more if iwas to make a choice i hope he can be swayed he really wants to start 2 doesn’t he but his 10 and 10 and kendirck with the abilty to be a 15 and 10 guy in his peak years does bode welli don’t like this erden character and i think harondy should be signed looks like a real good player
tony allen also but thats a given
if wade bosh and chirsh sign on the same team expect there numbers to dropif they share the laod or expect onre guys numbers tobe the same and the other 2 numbers to drop tremndously they ain’t even got a centet mario chalmers ithe point guard that has to play with them i feel very sorry for him both lbj and dwyane like to dribble the ball initiate the offense just seems really stupid
