Reggie Evans: Chris Bosh will use Paul Pierce dunk as ‘ammunition’ 10.10.10 at 10:28 pm ET
By

Talking after his team’s 91-87 preseason loss to the Celtics on Sunday night at TD Garden, Toronto forward Reggie Evans suggested that his former teammate, Chris Bosh, would be using the motivation derived from being kicked by Paul Pierce during dunk in the midst of a Nov. 27 game last year at the Garden when Bosh’s new team, the Heat, face off with the Celts in the teams’ season-opener.

“Me knowing Chris, I know he’s got that game penciled in based on what happened last year with the Paul Pierce dunk, with the kick and stuff,” Evans said. “Knowing him, when he has so much ammunition on a team, I know he’s looking forward to that game. He may deny it, but I’m pretty sure he’s looking forward to it. It’s going to be fun to watch.”

Evans explained that Bosh never said anything about the play, but suggested that it wouldn’t be a big leap of faith to suggest that the new Heat forward is using that play to prepare for the Oct. 26 showdown at the Garden.

“Anybody would take that personally,” Evans said. “Getting kicked on a dunk, who wouldn’t take that personally? The thing about it is that Chris never said anything about it out of his own mouth, but Chris, with his competitive nature, I could see how he would be looking forward to playing him again.

“It’s just like Kobe Bryant losing to Boston in the Finals. He remembers that. That goes for any athlete, who has a competitive nature and genuinely loves the game. It will definitely be fun to watch.”

In 25 career games against the Celtics, Bosh is averaging 20.2 points per game. For more on the Celtics, see the team page at weei.com/celtics.

November 29th of 2009? Didn’t they play three times after that? Please, Evans had nothing to talk about after the loss tonight so he brought that up? Wow, I thinks its amusing.

Kathy, that’s an excellent point. They played 3 times AND Bosh never brought it up? I think he has probably moved on. By the way Reggie, Bosh should worry more about KG’s renewed defensive intensity.

  • Grady

Bosh is soft. He may want revenge but he isn’t the type to get it. He’ll let it go or tell big brother Lebron do something about it

“The Truth” of it is, to both journalist Bob Radford and to Reggie Evans is that Paul did not “kick” Chris Bosh. In the natural progression of going up for a layup and in order to gain height and to protect himself PP raised his knee and hit CB in the groin/family jewels region with his knee. Tough!! the worst thing PP did was give him a prolonged nasty stare. I agree with Stanky Leg and suggest CB worry about KG & the O’Neal bros (and perhaps Semih!)

    correction…..Rob Bradford!!

Oh brother………..yeah, his stare down was lame, but I WISH these guys would stop whining————an instigating s***. This crap of hugging has to GO_its an elite millionaire club now.

The 60′s guys had to have 2 jobs to play basketball and survive. I am not from that era-but BUGS the hell out of me how reg fouls are now T!!!! Let em ALL play

He would have never done that on Lonnie Shelton, Elvin “The Big E” Hayes, Wes Unseld, Willis Reed, Artis Gilmore, Wilt…..he would have found himself waking up in the hospital from being knocked silly!

That’s the problem with the NBA today. Big Men don’t know how to play defense…punishing defense. I betcha if Pierce was hit hard one time driving to the basket like that….and he got up off the floor, you wouldn’t have to worry about him doing it no more for the rest of the game unless it was a break away fast break!

Who the h*** is Reggie Evans?
Why is he talking about other teams and other players?
If I were “Reggie Evans”, I’d worry the next 4 times I play Boston…now my team might lose by 35-45 instead of just 15.

As for Chris Bosh, I think he is going to be matched up against KG; KG will be motivated wther it is Bosh or Evans…no matter.
