We all know Celtics captain Paul Pierce survived well into Day 2 at last month’s World Series of Poker, but I hadn’t heard him comment much about it or seen what duds he was rocking. Thanks to PokerListings.com, we now have both. First, his thoughts on how his poker habit might benefit the Celtics even while the NBA lockout endures:

“I think poker has really helped me develop patience and that helps me in everything I do in life. It helps me on the basketball court, to be more patient and to be more of a thinking player and to be smarter out there.”

    Paul Pierce is the best at whatever he does. Not only is Paul a skilled professional basketball player but he also is talented at being a kind, caring, wonderful human being and is an inspiration to all. My best of luck to him in every walk of life.

    He is a smart guy. I liked the way he turned pocker into something useful for his basketball skills; and when you read, it makes a lot of sense.
    I hope we will be able to see him few more seasons and then as a coach. I wish him, KG and Ray will never get old, what an extraordinary group on the court and out the court.

    The Celtics Fans ought to CHANT MVP every time he goes to the free throw line. He deserves that respect more then any celtics player on the team. Although Rajon Rondo is the future. Paul Pierce is still the present and has been with the team since 98 and never left them even though he went through some tough times in boston from stabbings, that terrible game in 04, problems with doc he never coward out and along with KG and Ray Allen brought another banner to Boston in 08 and was actually the FINALS MVP. He’s the MVP of the team to my eyes because hes the closer. He’s the truth!
