I don’t get why everyone is saying the Sox are gonna suck this year.  One year ago everyone was saying how this was the best lineup in the past 20 years, and if anything it has improved with Ross in RF instead of Drew/McDonald.  I would also argue that Boston’s top 3 starters would be in the top 3 rotations in MLB.  I think the Sox are going to be epic this year, especially how Cook and Padilla were pitching in Spring Training and with Lavarnway, Middlebrooks and Iglesias sitting in AAA…Weakest roster in 10 years? I would say strongest in at least 15 years.

I agree fully. Plus, what does everyone elses lineup look like? I doubt there’s a lot of stacked lineups out there. Why is everyone panicking? I’d worry about pitching before I worry about this lineup

Aceves will be wasted as a closer since he should be pitching multiple innings as we saw last year. Bailey is done for at least half the season. Bard and Doubront are questionmarks as starters. Who is going to be in the bullpen for middle relief? I’m not worried about the offense, but the pitching is a big questionmark.

What a shame Ciriaco didn’t make the squad. If one of the 3 starters goes down, its over. Same goes for Dustin, Jacoby or Adrian. Very little room for error.

The Red Sox are in the best position possible. Last year they were the team to beat with expectations to win it all and anything else would be a failure. Yes they had the team to beat but as we can see it doesn’t always work that way. This year in some predictions they aren’t even ranked to make the playoffs which in my opinion is the best outcome to start the season. No pressure or high expectations. Perfect opportunity to over achieve with the motivation to prove everyone wrong. Players to watch…..Cody Ross. I believe he will be the Mike Lowell of surprises. Motivated to prove himself and in the right ball park to do it in. Jose Inglesias will be the shortstop by June 1st simply from fan peer pressure and will not dissapoint!. This will also be a breakout year for Jarod Saltalamachia both behind the plate and at the plate. More importantly a confidence builder for the pitchers. In the end the most logical solution will be Josh Bard as the closer and Vicente Padilla as the 5th starter until and if Andrew Bailey returns. Finally somewhere along the line Pedro Ciriaco will be a difference maker this year somewhere on the field and at the plate!

If he was ever going to get an honest look he’s at the right spot.

A center fielder that hits 30 homers has a little pop I think.  I also didn’t know that 27 is the new 40.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Haz49 Henry Hazel

Jacoby hit 32 homers last year.Cody Ross is good for for 20.So there is alittle pop.Older by the minute in the rotation.Felix,Bard,Clay and Jon are all under 30
