Doc Rivers reiterates: ‘I have to figure out a way’ 01.24.13 at 8:10 pm ET
By

Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said before Thursday night’s game with the Knicks that he still believes his team has what it takes to overcome the doldrums that have seen his team lose four straight after winning six in a row.

Rivers was asked if he had any changes in store for a big weekend of basketball that includes the Knicks, Hawks and Heat on Sunday.

“Let’s hope we don’t [have to make changes],’ Rivers said. “If we start playing better then you don’t, obviously. If you don’t [start playing better], then we have to do something at some point. Again, I think we have what we need in the locker room. I’m just not getting it out of them and I have to figure out a better way of getting it out of them.”

Rivers also said he hopes his team is inspired by the Kevin Garnett-Carmelo Anthony incident the last time the two teams met in New York, a 102-96 Boston win. Anthony was held to 20 points on 6-of-26 shooting from the field.

After getting into a confrontation late in the fourth quarter, Anthony tried to meet with Garnett in front of the Celtics locker room and then in front of the Celtics team bus before Madison Square Garden security and police intervened.

“We have what we need in the locker room” – DocYeah right, with the exception of a head coach who can get the attention of his players.

you have what u need in the locker room. good to know. otherwise, i think your team would be in big trouble

Sry if Doc thinks he has what he needs on his team.
    Just NOT the case anymore.
Maybe he was just trying to be “politically correct”.
If not, then he is dilusional.

Danny needs to move on and trade some of the guys
who they thought were solutions. THEY’RE NOT!

If it’s that good maybe Danny can get some good value in a trade or two. I still see too much walking around and standing around. Never saw Ray Allen not moving.

Am I the only one that feels it is time for Doc to gracefully step down? Don’t get me wrong I luv and have nothing but the utmost respect for him but sorry Doc the fat lady has sung, stick a fork in you- your time in Beantown has run its course. The players are not responding to you, you either have to ship some players out or the problem is you. Watching the game last night and seeing how discombobulated they looked on defense was gut-renching. I swear I wish I could teleport myself through my television and bit*h slap you…..seriously? I’m a diehard fan but watching you all play is almost comical.

“I think we have what we need in the locker room” Ah, sorry Doc. No you don’t. Pierce should’ve been traded last year when he had something left. Now you will be lucky to get a rack of balls for him. He is not a leader and makes everyone around him worse not better. You aren’t going anywhere this year. Time for a new strategy.

I’m sorry, Doc, but didn’t you say last week that changes would be necessary if the Cs didn’t turn it around?

Sounds like this team is broken.
