These guys are shooting the ball like crap, all of them. Brandon Bass has become a ghost. Mutt thinks Rondo is the most disappointing Celtic while everyone around him goes clang, clang, clang. He thinks Paul Pierce is as good a scorer as the Celtics have ever had. His lifetime stats will verify he can score, but to put him in Larry Bird and John Havlicek class is ludicrous. Always had a lot of respect for Mutt’s opinions and still do, but how many times are we going to see Paul Pierce get stripped on his way to the hoop? Then Mutt says to leave him he alone, “he’s 100″… Ahh see, even Mutt can see that Pierce is playing lousy. I’ve been watching Pierce his entire career, and remember his….”I’m a superstar on a bad team” statement. That’s when he lost me. One simple sentence that dissed an entire cast of teammates and an organization. I once saw him walk to the bench during the last few seconds of a playoff 1st half performance a few years back. He had been hot, Rondo came down and took the shot instead of Pierce and he started walking off the court. Rondo however got his own rebound, looked for Pierce to squeeze of one last shot, and Pierce waved him off, walking to the bench, DURING A PLAYOFF GAME!! He thinks he’s a superstar and proclaimed himself one of the greaytest “shooters ever” after winning that 3 point shot contest. He’s a solid B player who has come up big, but also failed miserably with bad turnovers or strips in a ratio that far out quantifies the successes. I NEVER, EVER remember that happening to Bird or Havlicek nearly as much as it happens to this guy. And if you want 10 Celtics to take ahead of him on the all time list…..here goes…this is who I would take. You won’t like it.

Extreme hustle and offensive rebounding aren’t even in the Paul Pierce vernacular, and never have been. Tell me the last time you saw Paul Pierce on the floor going for a loose ball? Cedric Maxwell would kill for offensive rebounds in big games, not Pierce. Once in a blue moon will he follow a teammate to the hoop or get there ahead of him looking for position. The little guy hustles all over the place grabbing rebounds Pierce should be getting while Pierce has everyone’s 2 lips planted on his fanny, giving him a pass for crappy play, and he knows it. Give me Larry Bird’s 21,000 points and broken body to any number PP finally ends up with at his country club pace.
