Fab Melo

Celtics announced Friday that they have assigned center Fab Melo to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

Since returning from his last assignment to the Claws, Melo, a 7-foot center, appeared in two games with the Celtics. Melo played three minutes against the Magic before playing the final five minutes Thursday night against the Lakers.

Melo recorded his first two career points in the blowout win, to go along with a steal and a block.

In 19 games (17 starts) for the Red Claws, Melo is averaging 11.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.6 blocks a game while averaging 27.7 minutes.

    A work in progress.

What’s the point in sending him down. They’re not going anywhere this season, so why not let him develop & learn from KG? He can’t be any worse than Collins.

      Agreed.

It will be really interesting to see how this kid develops over the years.  Can’t teach size!  I see a potential defensive Center in him – like a Marcus Camby type.  That sure cant hurt this team.

the game is to fast for him at this time, that was seen against the lakers.  DA don’t trade this guy , lets keep him around and let him mature a little bit. If you move him we will be right back to the Mikki moore stages. could not have hurt to have kept Goldieblocks , KG was doing wonders for that kids confidence..   keep moving the ball please and no more Paul ball…..

    Guys.  No denial.

This guy is already a bonafide scrub.

Just look at his face and the way he runs…

    OVER.

Need more improvement, not yet that ready for the big league.

  • Pedro

He needs to get in shape.  Was winded after a few times up and down the court.  Does’t look like this guy has ever seen the inside of a wieght room.

      New nickname, Flab Melo

1st .. FIX YOUR TEETH; you have enough money now for that.
    2nd .. GET IN SHAPE
    3rd .. HIT THE GYM

Was nice to get a look at him. You can see the raw tools there, but he is definitely not ready and did look out of place. At the moment, he looks like Acie Earl. But, with some continued development in the d-league, the Celtics may have a player.

Now, he probably won’t be replacing Kendrik Perkins anytime soon (though anyone who remembers Perkins back when he first got here may notice that there are a lot of similarities), it is doubtful that he’ll follow in the footsteps of Earl or Eric Montross.
