Trade rumor: Celtics, Clippers talk Kevin Garnett for Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan 02.16.13 at 9:24 am ET

Kevin Garnett

Now that you’ve digested the unlikelihood of a Rajon Rondo for Dwight Howard trade between the Celtics and Lakers, wrap your head around this one: The Kevin Garnett to the Clippers rumor is back and bigger than ever.

Speculation first found legs when the Celtics hosted the Clips on Feb. 3, but multiple reports shot the rumor down for a variety of reasons. Now, reputable Yahoo! Sports columnists Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears are reporting the two teams are discussing a deal that would bring Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan to Boston in exchange for Garnett.

Members of both organizations appear reluctant to make the trade, Wojnarowski and Spears reported. While Garnett might make the Clippers a contender this season, they would be parting ways with a 23-year-old star point guard in the making and a still developing 24-year-old center.

Meanwhile, besides the fact Garnett remains the heart and soul of the Celtics franchise, team president Danny Ainge would have to convince KG to waive his no-trade clause, although the C’s hope a move close to his home in Malibu and a chance to join longtime friend Chauncey Billups might assuage the 36-year-old All-Star’s concerns, according to the report.

I LOOOOOOVVVVEEE kg, but you have to make this trade if your boston. think of the next potential move in the offseason of then having either bledsoe or rondo as a trading chip. the future for this team looks bleak without a deal

    • Johnricker88

Agreed, I love him too, but it’s a no brainier for us if they can pull it off

    • Blake

Flip Rondo or Bledsoe for a solid PF and you have a good foundation

      • Tommyfreitag70

sullinger will be back next season full strength hes already prooving his worth him an bass together is a good team .

    • Zman1369

This would be a great move and would set up to get final piece of the puzzle by trading rondo.

  • Tommyfreitag70

danny make the move this would make celtics conteders for yrs, starting five of bledsoe, bradley, green, sullinger ,jordan. then a bench of barbosa, the jet ,paul pierce, brandon bass, wilcox, and eventually fab mello, and trade rondo for another big peice this team would be great for years an pierce could retire a celtic an still be championship contenders, even though i love garnett hes the sole but hes almost done an he could bring in the future championship contenders,DANNY DO IT. MAN UP !!!!!!!

no star power…..just a bunch of good players.  I guess you could hope to be like denver unless you keep Rondo and trade Bledsoe.  Even then you would have to sign or trade for a big time scorer who can make the big shots in the playoffs, as Pierce would be close to done after next year, assuming he doesn’t retire with KG gone.  I think Bledsoe is def going to improve quite a bit, but Jordan IMO will just be a “good” center.  I also like this team next year with a healthy Rondo(hopefully) and Sullinger, as KG is still performing at a high level.  IMO they were the deepest team this year, but they had too many guys on their roster that needed min as well as the ball in their hand more in order to be productive.   I felt like it would take a while for the team to gel with all the pieces, especially since our rotation was changing due to the fact that many of our guys were similar in talent level.  We didn’t have a lot of “role players” this year, but instead a bunch of guys that were between good and pretty good….couple sixth man award guys, our two talented young guys(bradley/sullinger), a potential future all star in Jeff Green and then Bass and Lee who are solid players.  A lot of guys that needed touches otherwise individually they just looked better on paper and that’s not Rondo’s fault, but he would have had to adapt a little just like everyone else…..that takes a while when you have 11 legit players moving in an out

  • Blake

    Do this ALL DAY

  • bleedgreen

if this is true ,i would turn around and trade bledsoe to atlanta for josh smith.if its possible ,and if we have to throw in a 1rst rounder or bass to make it work.starting 5 next yeat will be jordan, smith, green, rondo, bradley.not bad

  • Dano50

Much as I love KG…I love this idea more.  Find it hard to believe the Clippers would make it however.

    • Kenny Powers

My sentiments exactly.  It’ll be interesting to see what other pieces the Celtics may have to include to close such a deal.

  • Dansdrs

    I like this trade

  • Billyt

This is a no brainor for the Celtics. However, NO WAY Clippers give up both Beledsoe and Jordan. Bledsoe and maybe Butler and or Turiaf…..keep dreaming. Makes no sense for the Clippers. They already have the best team in the league.

    • Fab4ever

Far from the “best team” in the league…..there are 4 teams better…Miami, Memphis, San Antonio and OKC…Memphis is debatable but there’s no way they’re better than the other 3…

  • Troy

Remember it’s up to Garnett, not just Danny

  • Jeff

still not enough in my opinion. Jordan has no offensive game and his blocks are down this season. I dont ever see him turning into a legit center.

  • Hao Asakura

why trade KG when things are starting to click for the C’s right now? (Danny already made a terrible mistake before when he decided to trade Perkins, don’t want to let that happen again)
    .
i guess it’s a good idea to let Sullinger and Melo learn from KG rather than trying to acquire Jordan.. stick with Rondo (triple-double machine), don’t crave for Bledsoe (don’t get me wrong, Bledsoe still hasn’t proven anything)..
    .
think about it, it’s possible that Rondo, Green and Sullinger would be next Big Three..

    • Blake

BWAHAHAHAH Thats a joke. I like all three but they are not winning u championships

  • Ricks choice

Time to consult Rick Pitino and do the opposite.

  • TommiDellisolla

    This is insane .

Giving KG away for those chimps !?!?!?!?!?

    • Ebled

don’t call them chimps man that’s pretty low. And the Clippers will not make this trade so don’t trip on it man

  • ScoopBurton

Good luck trading that Fossil…..Are the Celtics going to throw in a walker and a case of depends?

  • Boston_Sports

KG is heart and soul of Celtics but this deal should be made if possible. KB will make the Clippers and instant guarantee to go all the way, while Bledsoe and Jordan will begin the rebuilding process the Celtics are in need of. Pro Sports are a business. Owners and Players know that. This would allow the Celtics to also trade Rondo to the Lakers. Celtics would be contenders for years to come. Another playoff team with hopes of winning it all may want Pierce. He too would help a team to go all the way.
    DANNY, Go for it.

  • Bruinman86

It would suck to see KG go, but if it gets some building blocks for the future, it’s tough to pass up.

  • DaMan

You know I initially said NO to this trade but now I say yes! Bledsoe could be your poor guard of the future and when Rindo comes back ( no one is a more @rooter” for Rondo than me) you flip him in a trade for a big man and I am not advocating Deight Howard ) ! Makes sense! Remember it’s a buisness and there is NO LOYALTY ! Do it now Danny !

  • Mjdunktm33

True Celtics live and die green .  KG is all green !

  • Juangalarza80

I AGREE Ok, KG is still producing, but he is getting up there in age, but come on guys DEANDRE JORDAN??. yea Bledsoe is somebody that can replace Rondo this year, but Deandre Jordan has NOOO game, all he does is dunks, he has no offensive moves what so ever, and he aint making anybody’s all defensive team!!..naaah man i dont like!.

  • Hommy1820

I live in Springfield Ma can’t wait to see once KG comes here, I love the Guy but I would have to agree this tarde makes sence….

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TEXA4KW3X73QH67KZWFWMK6NU4 darinj

i would do it i love kg to death but as a celtic fan a die hard celtic fan i dont want us in a slump come 2015 because garnett will retire. i wouldn’t trade rajon rondo what are you guys thinking arguably the best point guard in the league give up bass wilcox and lee for josh smith and 2015 draft pick starting line up Jordan, Smith, Pierce, bradley, rondo….bench green, jet, barbosa, bledsoe, sullinger and fab melo what can we say ring
