Trade rumor: Celtics ‘salivating’ over landing Hawks’ Josh Smith for Jeff Green, Brandon Bass 02.16.13 at 9:39 am ET
By

The Celtics “would be receptive” to trading both Jeff Green and Brandon Bass for Hawks forward Josh Smith, according to longtime Bucks beat reporter Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.

The Nets and Bucks are also reportedly interested, but “for a few weeks now” the Celtics have been “salivating” over the possibility of landing Rajon Rondo‘s Oak Hill Academy teammate, according to the report.

I’m really encouraged about Ryan Kalish and the point being made that said Lowry after a season off and coming off of Mono just spent 10 days or so in AA & AAA, then went directy to the Red Sox, he then had 9 hr and batted .287 the rest of the season for the Red Sox, I’d hope Kalish be given this opportunity rather than havea worthless Darnell with his lightening hot .190 being kept up on the big club, there is no comparision to the two players, yet I suspect the Red Sox will keep Darnell for the remainder of the season whether0 is avg dips to .055, really wouldn’t matter, Darnell has some kind of leverage over the FO, nobody in their right mind would keep a player of Kalish’s caliber in the minors and have Darnell stay in the “Show”, this FO is incredible, in a negative sense.

dont like it rather keep green hes coming out of his shell showing what he can do,an paul cant keep playing high minutes he soon needs to pass the tourch to green,an bass teams up good with sullinger.bad move

Really Green and Bass for Smith?? That is outrageous. I wouldn’t trade Green straight up for him – he’s a taller Antoine Walker.

Howard would get crushed in Boston. He is a pouty-face who only plays when he feels like it

No thanks…don’t like Josh Smith’s game. Green’s a keeper and if they trade Pierce he’ll be the starting small forward for the next 6-7 yrs.

I don’t think Green is that great, I also don’t think Smith is that great. Keep Green only because we owe him less money but I would trade green for virtually anybody else.

THE  most over-rated player in the league. Sure  he looks good dunking on the break, but so would Green and Bass if Rondo was running them, instead of walking up the court. AND Smith is an absolute Brick layer, with some of the ugliest shots you’ll see. He also wants a max deal which is utterly insane. So I guess NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  is the answer. Danny, please don’t go nuts on us.

Rondo will be in heaven if Josh Smith is his dinner companion on the road.

Bass and Melo and next year’s #1 for Smith I’d do in a heartbeat.  I’m down with keeping Green (heir apparent to the Truth) and we MUST keep Bradley for heavens sake.  With Smith, Pierce, KG, Bradley and Terry the C’s have a legit contender to go to the Eastern Conference Finals.  Bench is Green, Lee, Wilcox, Williams (Terrence) and grab Christmas back and bring up D-leaguer and Collins.  Deep enough to make a run provided KG and Pierce stay healthy.

This is the 3 team deal….KG to Clippers for Bledsoe n Jordan….C’s ship Bledsoe, Sullinger and/or Bass to Hawks for Smith….

  • Bruinman86

No thanks.  Smith is too much of a loose cannon and has serious attitude problems.  Let alone the fact he’s not exactly proven himself an upgrade over what we are giving up.  Pass…
