The Celtics took a step toward turning over a new leaf with a convincing road victory Tuesday night, beating the Sixers, 109-101, in Philadelphia. It improved the Celts to 11-18 away from TD Garden this season, and marked just the second time Boston has claimed back-to-back road victories.

The Celts, who had lost six of their last seven games in Philly, slowly built their lead, having held a 53-46 halftime lead. While the Sixers had been slumping, losing eight of their last nine games, had claimed 17 of their 23 victories this season at home.

Leading the way for the Celtics’ offense was Avery Bradley, who scored 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor.

Paul Pierce also contributed with 18 points (4-for-4 on three-pointers) and 10 rebounds, while Kevin Garnett also netted 18.

Contributing off the bench for the C’s, who finished shooting 50 percent from the floor, were Jeff Green (16 points), and newly-acquired Jordan Crawford, who added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor. The C’s also moved to 18-4 when scoring over 100 points.

The Celtics did commit a season-high 22 turnovers, this after turning the ball over just twice in the first quarter.

22 T/O’s not good but a win is a win. Go Green.

This was an entertaining game.  The TO and Steals that PHL forced kept them in the game.  Celts played poor defense in 2nd.  PP 3 pointers kept them in the game and they came at good moments.  Bradley, Courtney and Crawford looked good.  TO like this are uncharactisic, lets hope it is just a blip.  I like the DOC is dividing the minutes with top seven players of 30 minutes.  What is going on with White, it will be interesting to see how this guy plays?  I like Wilcox when he is on but seems so inconsistent?

  • I miss the Whiner Line

Shouldn’t have been such a close game, you can’t turn the ball over 22 times against a team like Miami. Still way to fight through adversity. GO CELTICS!!!!

Overall, not a bad performance. A tough game to watch at times, however the Celtics were able to up the defense after the first five minutes of the game.  I totally agree about the rotation; Doc seems to have found his nine core guys right now. It was great to see the bench score 41 points. Hopefully it will continue, though Crawford can be maddening to watch at times. I think it will take him time, but he will fit in well.

The turnovers were a bit unusual tonight and there is no excuse for 22 of them. I think it may have been because of the layoff and off days. There were definitely passes to “no one” throughout the game as well as passes that should not have been made.

11 and 4 without Rondo!!!  73 winning percentage.  Not bad.

Avery Bradley and Jeff Green are exciting to watch, they give me lot’s of hope for the seasons
to come along with Rondo and Sullinger.  The captain is fighting that pinched nerve, I give him a lot of credit for playing through it. Brandon Bass, God bless him looks a bit like he’s lost at sea.
    Go C’s!

I love watching Bradley….the kid brings energy to that lineup every time he’s out there…..

  • Old Coach

When the ball moves and players move we have our best chance to win.  Celts are fun to watch now.  At the end of games doc goes to paul and kg ball that does not give this team its best chance to win.  It nearly lost the game last night, ball and players stop moving and we get rushed shots under pressure.

Jason Terry touch pass to KG reminded me of LB. Split a double team, drove hard right, drew the D, tapped to KG for the easy basket. Championship teams get lots and lots and lots of those easy baskets.

But overall the game was brutal with the turnovers and they would have been waxed by a good team. So we’ll chalk it up to a “rust” game and see what happens tonight! (eek. Indy’s got a bunch of thick bodies… like Brandon Bass except their big bodies appear to be honest to goodness basketball players. Bass is so bad.)

So happy to see this team continue to find ways to win, It could be any players night, which is why watching these games is so much fun. You won’t know how good you really are until you have to prove it. Every player needs to be tested to find out what they can do. You CANNOT rely on a couple of players to carry this team, your either on the team or your not. Every player has something to bring to every game and they need to maintain that attitude throughout the rest of the season. Keep your head down and keep fighting. Don’t let the critics tell you what you can or cannot do. There’s a reason their on the sidelines, they could NEVER do what you do everynight, so they don’t matter and neither do their opinions. Ignore them. GO CELTICS!!!

Almost forgot, Jeff Green’s defense last night was just plain awesome and it wasn’t just pure athleticism either. It was tough, disciplined and smart. He continues to impress.

I like this team and love Bradley. Def a lot of optimism here. Watch out Heat when we meet in the finals.
