After trailing for much of the third quarter, the Heat got a buzzer-beating 28-footer from Mario Chalmers as time expired at the end of the period to claim a 72-71 lead that they never relinquished, finally pulling away from the Spurs late to claim a 95-88 victory in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. With the victory, the Heat claimed their second straight title.

While Chalmers hit the game-changing shot at the end of the third, it was LeBron James who again dominated. In 45 minutes, he poured in 36 points while shooting 12-of-23 from the floor, making all eight of his free throws, pulling in a dozen rebounds and recording four assists. Dwyane Wade contributed 23 points and 10 boards, while Shane Battier added 18 points on 6-of-8 from behind the arc.

In defeat, Spurs forward Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 24 points, but he missed an opportunity to tie the game in the final minute, missing a layup and a tip-in attempt with San Antonio trailing, 90-88. A James jumper allowed the Heat to claim a two-bucket lead, and the Spurs never again threatened.
