Report: Evan Turner ‘received interest’ from Celtics

Posted By Ben Rohrbach On July 14, 2014 @ 11:20 am In General | No Comments

The Celtics [1] have expressed interest in free agent swingman Evan Turner [2], according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

The second overall pick in 2010, Turner’s value may be at an all-time low since seeing a serious dip in production after being traded from the 76ers to the Pacers this past season. He averaged just 7.1 points (41.1 FG%), 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 27 games down the stretch for the Eastern Conference semifinalists.

Despite Philadelphia’s willingness to dump Turner for little in return (Danny Granger [4]‘s expiring contract and a second-round pick), the Ohio State product has shown flashes of why he was picked behind John Wall [5] in 2010. Turner also has a longstanding friendship with Celtics [1] big and fellow former Buckeye Jared Sullinger.
