Ray Allen led the offense with 20 points and drilled a clutch jumper late while Rajon Rondo dished out 17 assists as the Celtics played smothering defense to spoil the highly anticipated debut of LeBron James with the Heat. The Celtics won, 88-80, Tuesday night at TD Garden in the NBA season-opener.

Shaq’s debut as a statue in Harvard Square 10.21.10 at 3:03 pm ET

On Thursday afternoon, Shaq announced on his twitter account that he would be showing up in Harvard Square to be a statue so that people could take pictures with him. Sporting a bow tie and a gray pinstripe suit, Shaquille O’€™Neal sat beside Celtics coach Doc Rivers for his introductory press conference on Wednesday. As forward and new teammate Kevin Garnett and Luke Harangody overlooked the event from a higher level at the Celtics’€™ practice facility, the center fielded questions and held up his No. 36 jersey as he became the first player in franchise history to wear the number. Here’s the Celtics’ official press release concerning the sale of NBA finals tickets.

BOSTON ‘€“ The Boston Celtics announced today that a limited number of playoff tickets for Round 4, home games 1, 2 and 3 (Games 3, 4 and 5 of the series) at the TD Garden will go on sale Wednesday, June 2 at 11 a.m. There is a four (4) ticket limit per event on all seating areas and seats start at $40.

Game 3 is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, June 8, at 9 p.m., Game 4 on Thursday, June 10, at 9 p.m. and Game 5 on Sunday, June 13, at 8 p.m. The opponent is yet to be determined. Please visit Celtics.com for all the latest schedule information as it becomes available.

Celtics fans will be able to purchase on June 2 beginning at 11 a.m. by visiting Celtics.com, by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX (800-462-2849) or by visiting the TD Garden Box Office. Acceptable forms of payment for tickets are American Express and all other major credit cards and customers may also pay with cash at the TD Garden Box Office.

In the event that Game 5 (Round 4, home game 3) is not played, refunds will be done at the point of purchase. Fans purchasing online would be automatically refunded through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster will refund the face value of each ticket, facility charge and per ticket service charge. All per order charges (order processing and any delivery charges) will not be refunded.

Fans interested in securing private suites for playoff games may do so by calling the Celtics Sales Office at 866-4CELTIX (866-423-5849). Private suites accommodate 18 fans and catering options are also available. For more information log onto www.celtics.com.

Celtics forward Rasheed Wallace was fined $35,000 Thursday for publicly criticizing game officials for comments made to the media back on April 19.

Official Press Release: Celtics Re-Sign Glen Davis 08.10.09 at 1:55 pm ET

BOSTON, MA ‘€“ The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has re-signed forward Glen Davis to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

‘€œGlen has been a big part of our success for the past two years and we are very excited to have him back,’€ said Danny Ainge, Celtics President of Basketball Operations.

Davis, a 6’€™9’€, 289 lbs, forward has spent two seasons with the Celtics and had a breakout 2008-09 season in which he averaged 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. The former LSU Tiger continued his breakout campaign in the 2009 playoffs during which he averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Davis made 16 starts during the 2008-09 regular season and averaged 12.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in 33.0 minutes per game. ‘€œBig Baby’€ scored a career-high 24 points against the Memphis Grizzlies on March 21, 2009. Davis also hit the biggest shot of his career to date when he nailed a game-winning jumper against the Orlando Magic in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals to send the series back to Boston tied 2-2. During the First Round of the 2009 playoffs against the Chicago Bulls, Davis averaged 18.1 points and 6.7 rebounds.

According to Jeff Goodman of WEEI.com and FoxSports.com, Glen Davis has agreed to a two-year deal that will pay him approximately $6 million. Goodman reports that Davis had fielded some interest from teams in the offseason, but no one put forth an offer to the restricted free agent. Davis, 23, averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in the postseason while playing more than 36 minutes per contest. During the regular season he put up seven points and four boards per game. The Celtics will announce the Davis deal and an agreement with forward Shelden Williams Monday.
