|Sounds of the game… Celtics 90, Cavaliers 85||10.28.08 at 10:23 pm ET|
The final score hardly tells this story of this one. It was one of those unforgettable Boston sports nights. One of only 17 in the legendary history of the NBA’s most successful franchise. Raise another to the rafters and hand out the jewelery. Here’s what the players had to say about a night that had it all, and a Celtics come-from-behind win to boot.

Too bad Doc Rivers doesn’t like to talk and chat up other sports in town. Ask anyone who covers the Celtics, including our very own Jessica Camerato and Paul Flannery, they don’t come much better than Rivers when it comes to conversation.
Here’s just some of what he had to say before Sunday’s preseason game with New Jersey…
The Celtics close out the preseason on Tuesday night in New York against the Knicks before raising Banner 17 in the season opener against Cleveland at TD Banknorth Garden on the Tuesday, the 28th.
|Sounds of the game… Celtics-Rockets postgame||10.11.08 at 10:18 pm ET|
The Celtics beat the Houston Rockets, 90-89, when Gabe Pruitt banked in a jumper with 6.6 seconds remaining to improve to 2-1 in the preseason. But that was hardly the story of a game that featured Ron Artest driving Paul Pierce the floor on a drive to the basket in the first quarter, a Tracy McGrady elbow to the ribs of rookie Bill Walker and McGrady and Eddie House almost going at it after exchanging words in the second quarter.
Here’s what some of the Celtics had to say about not backing down afterward.
|Sounds of the game… Celtics-Sixers post||10.09.08 at 12:34 am ET|
The Celtics opened their eight-game preseason slate with a road game in, of all places, UMass on Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Cs lost the game, 98-92, despite leading by as manny as 14, 65-51, midway through the third. The team was without head coach Doc Rivers, who was tending to a personal family matter and backup point guard Sam Cassell, who was tending to a family emergency. Here’s a sampling of what they players and coaches had to say about the contest and Bill Walker’s highlight film dunks in the second quarter.
|Don’t adjust your set…||10.08.08 at 3:54 pm ET|
Believe it or not, the Celtics are NOT the home team in their preseason opener against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Mullins Center, despite playing this game just about 100 miles from Boston and in their home state.
That’s because the Celtics already have four other pre-designated ‘home’ preseason games, including two at the TD Banknorth Garden (Oct. 17 vs. NY, Oct. 19 vs. NJ), this Friday in Providence vs. Cleveland and Saturday night in Manchester, NH vs. Houston.
The Mullins Center is owned by the Comcast-Spectacor group, the same company that owns the 76ers and the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers.
And besides, how appropriate that the Sixers have a home game against the Celtics on the same campus where Julius Erving made a name for himself before Dr. J did with the ABA’s New York Nets and the NBA’s Sixers.
The Celtics begin the preseason without head coach Doc Rivers on the sidelines due to personal reasons while Sam Cassell is not with the team, tending to his grandfather who suffered a heart attack this week. The 76ers are without Kareem Rush, out with a left ankle sprain.
Keep on WEEI.com for updates from yours truly and colleague Paul Flannery throughout the night.

No better way to proudly introduce one of our new contributors/bloggers at
WEEI.com than to show what she brings to the table.
Joey, Donnie, Jordan, Danny and Jonathan… That’s right Jessica Camerato not only knows her world champion Boston Celtics and the NBA but also NKOTB.
Our Jess was loge and center for the New Kids on the Block return to Boston, which happened to take place in the same building as the Boston Celtics call home. No word on whether they made a return visit to the Celtics locker room, where Joey McIntyre and Donnie Wahlberg were helping KG, Paul Pierce and Jesus Shuttlesworth celebrate the championship on June 18.
And here’s her maiden report/blog/entry:
On Friday night, Boston Celtics captain Paul Pierce made a surprise guest appearance with the Larry O’Brien trophy at the New Kids on the Block concert at the TD BankNorth Garden. Diehard Celtics fan/NKOTB front man Donnie Wahlberg gushed over the team’s 17th title before Pierce emerged during their encore performance of “Hangin’ Tough.” The group donned Celtics jerseys as Pierce sauntered around the stage lifting the trophy and later jumped in a huddle similar to the Celtics pregame ritual. And word has it that Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has been asked to join the group with the World Series trophy at Sunday’s concert in Boston.
See Jess knows how to bring it. Welcome, Jess and we look forward to more on Paul, KG, Ray and the rest of the gang starting on Monday as the Celtics prepare to open training camp in Newport, RI.
